Training on Gender Mainstreaming for Non-governmental Organisations
The Chief Executive announced in the 2016 Policy Address that the Government would implement a pilot scheme to encourage non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the social welfare sector to refer to the gender mainstreaming checklist and apply gender mainstreaming when formulating policies and programmes. In response to the new initiative, the Labour and Welfare Bureau organised two training sessions on gender mainstreaming at Hong Kong Central Library and Revenue Tower on 28 January and 16 March 2016 and invited representatives from NGOs in social welfare sector to attend for understanding gender mainstreaming in details and its application in their organisations.
The training sessions were delivered by Professor Lam Ching-man and Prof Raees Baig of the Gender Research Centre, Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Some 110 representatives from NGOs in social welfare sector attended.
