Seminar on Gender Mainstreaming

With a view to promoting gender mainstreaming (GM), the Labour and Welfare Bureau and the Women’s Commission (WoC) organised a Seminar on Gender Mainstreaming on 11 December 2015. Over 150 participants, including representatives from non-governmental social welfare organisations, women’s groups, government bureaux and departments attended.

Professor Fanny M.C. Cheung, OBE, JP, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor / Vice-President of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, was invited to present a keynote speech on “Concepts and Global Trend of Gender Mainstreaming”. Miss Annie Tam, the Permanent Secretary for Labour and Welfare, introduced the experience on the application of GM within the government and the pilot scheme to promote GM in the welfare sector. Mrs. Stella Lau, the WoC Chairperson, hosted the question and answer session. The Co-convenors of the Working Group on Enabling Environment of WoC, Ms. Teresa Au and Mr. Philip Tsai, JP, participated in answering enquiries from the attendants.
